Abstract:The phylogeny, classification and genetic diversity of Capricornis sumatraensis has been studied by mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) sequencing of PCR amplification from cytochrome b (cyt b) specific fragments. Molecular evolution was determined according to mtDNA. Total DNA was extracted from dried skin of 5 serow population. Fragments of about 500 bp in size of mtDNA cyt b gene wer amplified by PCR. It has been suggested by the authors that the feasibility of studying rare animalgenetic variability from specimen of dried skin has been set up.
