Abstract:The hemipenial morphology has been extensively used in snake morphological evolution and systematics, and providing a large array of phylogenetically informative data. In current study, the hemipenial morphology of eight Chinese species from the genus Rhabdophis (including Rhabdophis tigrinus, R. adleri, R. nuchalis, R. pentasupralabialis, R. leonardi, R. nigrocinctus, R. himalayanus, R. subminiatus) were described and compared. The validity of some species level positions were discussed. Moreover, the evolution and phylogenetic relationships between them were extrapolated.
