Abstract:A herpetological survey was carried out in Sier Nature Reserve and adjacent area, Sichuan Province from September 4 to 16, 2002. 16 species belonging to 7 families, 12 genera were collected. Most of them are components of Southwest China Region of Oriental Realm, while the rest are components of adjacent faunal regions belonging to Palaearctic Realm or Oriental Realm. The main protective objects are Ailuropoda melanoleuca, Rhinopithecus roxellanae, Budorcas taxicolor, Davidia involucrate, Paa boulengeri, Rana chensinensis, and Elaphe taeniura. But the authors found that parts of their distribution had exceeded boundry of this nature reserve. As a suggestion, the boundary of the nature reserve should be extended to lower sea level ecological environment.
