A Comparative Study of Chelex-100 and Phenol-chloroform Methods for Extracting DNA from Trichomonas vaginalis

Abstract:Objective To compare Chelex-100 and phenol-chloroform methods for extracting genomic DNA from T. vaginalis. Methods Two extracting methods were compared with PCR detections. Result The result showed that same definite band was amplified by PCR from T. vaginalis genomic DNA extracted with two methods. Conclusion Two extracting methods were almost at same effective level. Chelex-100 method was practical in molecular biology study and clinical sample amplification by PCR for its simplicity and rapidity.
