Microstructure and Ultrastructure of the Liver Tissue of Adult Tanichthys albonubes

Abstract:The microstructure and ultrastructure of liver of the adult Tanichthys albonubes had been investigated using light and transmission electron microscopy. The results indicated that the hepatocyte contained one nucleus. Pronounced nucleoli were observed in each nucleus. Rough endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, glycogen and lipid droplets were distributed in cytoplasm of hepatocytes. 2~3 rosettes of hepatocytes make up the bile cannaliculi. Hepatic sinusoid was formed by endothelial cell, fibroblasts. The hepatic cells in liver have three types of conjunctions: to contact each other by close connection; to contact the sinusoid through the Disse’ space; to contact the bile canaliculus with microvilli, indicating the ultrastructural characteristics as endocrine gland and exocrine gland. In this research, we provide evidence to prove that the hepatic cells of the adult T. albonubes can be divided into two types: light cell and dark cell. Difference of the histological structure and ultrastructure of the liver between adult T. albonubes and other teleosts were also been discussed in this paper.
