Ecological Habits and Clinical Practice of Medical Centipede

Abstract:According to the biochemistry analysis, there are various kinds of active substance inside the centipede body such as various amino acid, peptide, sterol, fatty acid etc. This probably is the medicine basis in pharmacopoeia for curing apoplexy, tetanus, malignant sore, tumor, tinea, snake-biting etc. This essay sums up the clinical practice in six aspects from the ancient and modern traditional Chinese medical books and essays. It also makes a systematic study on medical centipede biological characters and ecological behaviors in wild and artificial environment such as its habitat, behavior and feeding habits, reproduction and individual development. The purpose is to provide the reference for establishing the medical system and drug base of modern traditional Chinese medicine.
