Some Factors Influencing Platelet-Activating Factor Acetylhydrolase (PAF-AH) Activity in Giant Panda Seminal Plasma

Abstract:The objective of this study is to determine the activity of platelet-activationg factor acetylhydrolase (PAF-AH) in giant panda seminal plasma through EIA and to determine the relationship among PAF-AH content and age, season or sperm quality. Results: Seminal PAF-AH content ranged from 12.96mmol/min.mL to 275.42mmol/min.mL, the PAF-AH content varied in different giant panda and month. Linear regression analysis revealed significant (P<0.001, P<0.05) relationship between PAF-AH content in semen and sperm motility and sperm moving character. The data confirms the presence of PAF-AH in giant panda semen and its content levels are age-dependent and seasonal changed, also related to sperm quality.
