Abstract:Population ecology and distribution of Dinodon rufozonatum in Anhui province were investigated by belt transect methods from May 2009 to May 2010.The result indicates: D. rufozonatum was widely distributed in Anhui province, and its horizontal distribution was random and discontinuous. Theminimum altitude of the vertical distribution was 15 m and the maximum was 1300 m. The population density of D. rufozonatum in Anhui was: Wannan hills>Jianghuai hills> River valley>Huaibei plain>Dabie Mountains, with a maximum density of 3.00 ind./hm2 and a minimum density of 1.55 ind./hm2. Approximately the overall amount of D. rufozonatum in Anhui was between 224.6 thousand and 445.8 thousand. The study of the distribution in small terrains and niches shows that D. rufozonatum was likely to be distributed in the plains and valleys rather than in the ridges and hills. D. rufozonatum was found in various habitats but mostly in the fields and shrubs. The analysis of population age and sex ratios from Huangfu Mountain (Jianghuai) and Dabie Mountains (in the West) shows: the populations of D. rufozonatum had a relatively stable structure, the majority of the populations were in a growth state, the gender ratio is relatively balanced and the population is increasing normally.
