Cytogenetic Studies on Bufo andrewsi in Wolong Nature Reserve

Abstract:In this work, we present cytogenetic data on the toads in Wolong Nature Reserve for the first time. The karyotype and NORs localities were described and compared with other toads. Toads in Wolong Nature Reserve had similar cytogenetic information to the toads of Bufo gargarizans, which had 22 chromosomes: 2n=22, with 6 large-sized pairs and 5 small-sized pairs, and NF=44. The karyotype was 20M+2SM, and secondary constriction wase also observed on the end region of the long-arms of the sixth pairs of chromosomes. Ag-NORs were located at 6qter. B. wolongensis and B. kabiscbi in Wolong Nature Reserve were not valid species in comparison with other toads.
