Abstract:From May to September, 2006, a field survey on amphibians and reptiles was conducted with the line-transect method in Baiyinkulun Nature Reserve for Relict Gulls, Inner Mongolia. A total of 12 species of amphibians and reptiles were recorded. Among them, 4 species of amphibians belong to 3 families and 1 order, and 8 species of reptiles belong to 4 families and 2 orders. The Palaeoarctic species appeared dominant over the other species in this fauna. Bufo raddei and Eremias argus were dominant species. The species composition of amphibians and reptiles in Baiyinkulun Nature Reserve was highly similar to those of adjacent nature reserves. Suggestions on the conservation of amphibians and reptiles are proposed based on the results of this field survey.
