A newly recorded species, Microdalyellia fusca Fuhrmann 1894, of the genus Microdalyellia (Platyhelminthes, Rhabdocoela, Dalyellidae) is reported from Asia in this paper. All specimens in this study are deposited in the College of Life Sciences, Shenzhen University, Guangdong, China.
Microdalyellia fusca Fuhrmann, 1894. (Figs. 1 ~ 3)
Ten specimens, JX201003-5~15, were found in a pond located in Jiujiang County, Jiangxi Province, China (29°19′33″N114°57′44″E) in March 2009. All of the specimens were kept in the Morphological Research Laboratory of Life Science College, Shenzhen University, Guangdong, China.
The specimen in this paper resembles the specimen of Microdalyellia fusca (Fuhrmann 1894), except for a few differences in the penis. The penis of the specimen in this paper is longer than that of the Fuhrmann’s specimen, length 177 μm and 101 μm respectively. The stout spines, median branch and lateral distal branch of penis of the present specimens are longer than that of the Fuhrmann’s specimen. The two proximal stalks of penis of the present specimen are of uniform length, but those are not in Fuhrmann’s specimen.
