Abstract:Incubation behavior of the buff-throated partridges (Tetraophasis szechenyii) was observed from April to May, 2009 at Pamuling Monastery in Yajiang County, Sichuan Province. A significant positive correlation (r=0.939F=59.585P<0.001) was found between the egg weight and remain incubation day. The positions of eggs in the nest were changed frequently during the incubation period. The sit-in-nest behavior (78.7%) of the incubating female was mostly observed; recess (17.4%) was less; turning-eggs behavior (3.1%) and others (8%) appeared once in a while. Sit-in-nest behavior could be observed all day; recess mainly occurred between 7:30 and 11:30; turning-eggs behavior occurred between 13:30 and 15:30. Females got in and out of the nest from a fixture of nest. During nestlings leaving nest, they were without male’s care and only guided by female.
