Study on the Age and Growth of Rhinogobio ventralis in the Upper Reaches of the Yangtze River

Abstract:Based on data collected from fishery resources investigations along the upper reaches of the Yangtze River in Panzhihua, Yibin, Hejiang, Mudong and Wanzhou from 2005 to 2007, the age and growth of Rhinogobio ventralis were studied. The results showed that the relationship between the total weight and standard length showed no significant difference between males and females, which was expressed as: ( R20.932P<0.01); The relationship between the standard length and scale length also showed no significant difference between males and females, which was expressed as: ( R20.906P <0.01); The parameters for the von Bertalanffy formula were L∞299.42 mmk0.24a-1and t0-0.42a respectively; The inflection point of total weight growth was 4.45 years. At present, Rhinogobio ventralis are on the verge of being overexploited.
