Abstract:We investigated the breeding behavior of Trachypithecus francoisis at four nature reserves with different altitudes in Guizhou Province from January 2008 to April 2009. It revealed that there was a significant difference of breeding season among populations of this monkey which lived at different altitudes. The difference might be due to the altitude, because the breeding behavior was related with the availability of the food resource at different altitudes. Results also suggested that the larger group sizes were helpful to increase the survival rate of infants. This research provided basic data for conservation and management of this species.
