Effect of Self-assembly Peptide for Corneal Alkali Burn

Abstract:Objective To study the effect of the new-type material self-assembly peptide RADA16-I at the early stage after corneal alkali burn. Methods The SD rats and rabbits’ eyes were burned with 1 mol/L NaOH solution and then applied 1%RADA16-I solution to the left eyes twice one day, while applied nothing to the right eyes. These rats were sacrificed on the 7th, 10th, 14th day after burn, while the rabbits on the 7th day, and the corneas were taken and then dyed with hematoxylin and eosin (HE). The photos were taken with microscope and the attached system. Results The treated eyes had some new grown epidermis and the fibre under it arranged in order, while the untreated eyes had hollow under the epidermis and the fibre arranged in foul-up, which indicated that the self-assembly peptide could promote the repair of corneal alkali burn .
