Chromosome Studies on Freshwater Planarians (Dugesia sp.) from China( III)

Abstract:The chromosomes and karyotypes of the Dugesia sp. collected from four localities in China were analyzed using an air-drying method. The results showed that most Dugesia sp. collected from Shilong in Henan Province, Longquan in Zhejiang Province had a diploid chromosome number of 16 (2n=2x=16)very little of triploid, 24 chromosomes (2n=3x=24). Those from Makegou and Sanchagou in Shanxi Province had mostly triploid24 chromosomes (2n=3x=24), very little diploid, 16 chromosomes (2n=2x=16) and aneuploidic triploid, 25 chromosomes (2n=3x+1=25= 24+1SB).
