Toxicity of Omethoate to Embryos and Larvae of Tylototriton shanjing

Abstract:The toxicity of omethoate to the embryos and larvae of Tylototriton shanjing was studied by acute toxici test. The results showed that the toxicity of omethoate on the T. shanjing embryos was greater during hatching and mouth open stages than the others. With the increase of the concentration, deformity and mortality of the embryos increased gradually. The safe concentration of omethoate on T. shanjing tadpoles was 0.05 mg·L-1. Within the safe concentration(0.03 mg·L-1), the growth of tadpoles promoted significantly. The growth of tadpoles would diapause when the concentration was higher than 0.03 mg·L-1. The effect on the tadpoles mainly appeared after 10 days since the omethoate could be concentrated in tadpoles along with time. The study suggested that omethoate had a significant impact on the growth of embryos and larvae of T. shanjing, and provided a reference to the rational usage of the pesticides.
