The Breeding Ecology of Calandrella cheleensis in Dalai Lake

Abstract:The breeding ecology of Calandrella cheleensis in Dalai Lake National Nature Reserve of Inner Mongolia was investigated in this study. A total of 37 nests were recorded. The nesting period lasted for 7-10 d. The outside diameter of the nests was 91.95 mm±3.85 mm (n=37), the inside diameter was 53.89 mm±3.29 mm (n=37), and the depth was 43.62 mm±5.36 mm (n=37). The average clutch size was 3.05±0.51. The incubation period lasted for 10-12 d. The hatching rate, fledgling rate, and breeding success rate were 83.3%, 94.1%, 54.1%, respectively. The dietary of nestlings was mainly consisted of Orthoptera larvae.
