Vertical Distribution and Fauna Analysis of Acridoidea in Emei Mountain

Abstract:Emei Mountain had rich insect resource, and the study of distribution and fauna of insects were helpful for understanding the species diversity and the insect evolution. This paper reported the fauna composition and vertical distribution of Orthoptera in Emei Mountain for the first time, and the results showed that there were 6 families and 27 species of Acridoidea in Emei Mountain, which had evident vertical distribution characteristics. No locusts existed in the area of more than 1600 m asl., the small-and medium-winged locusts were mainly distributed in the area between 1000-1600 m asl., and the medium-and long-winged locusts were mainly distributed in the area between 550-1000 m asl. The fauna of Acridoidea in Emei Mountain were mainly composed of Oriental realm species (63%), followed by endemic species (18%), Eurytopic species (15%) and Palaearctic realm species (4%).
