Annual Changes of Ovarian Development in Artificial Cultured Ancherythroculter nigrocauda

Abstract:The annual changes of ovarian development in artificial cultured Ancherythroculter nigrocauda were studied by paraffin sections and reproductive biology investigation. The results showed that the development of gonad can be divided into six stages according to the morphological and histological features. The spawning season of artificial cultured A. nigrocauda was from May to August, with the maximal gonado-somatic index (GSI) of 18.77% in July. The GSI was found to be declined after August, and the minimal GSI was 0.95% in February. These findings indicated that the artificial cultured A. nigrocauda showed a multiple spawn types, and can spawn 3~5 times during spawning season. The oocyte of the A. nigrocauda was viscous.
