Abstract:From October to December, 2012, a survey was conducted to investigate the distribution and population number of François’ langur Trachypithecus francoisi in Chongzuo White-headed Langur Nature Reserve and adjacent area by interviewing and field investigation. The results indicated that there were 55 individuals (10 groups) in the total area of 9714 hm2 in White-headed Langur Nature Reserve and 33 individuals (7 groups) in the total area of 1073 hm2 in Changping, Fusui county, which accounted for 14% and 10% of total populations of François’ langur in Guangxi, respectively. The protection of Trachypithecus francoisi and its habitats can be further enhanced by strengthening the capacity-building and propaganda in Duozhu of White-headed Langur Nature Reserve and by establishing small nature reserve in Changping.
