Abstract:

In order to further understand the population dynamics of ring-necked pheasant Phasianus colchicus in secondary broadleaved forest, and provide theoretical basis for conservation, the population density of ring-necked pheasant was surveyed in Zuojia Nature Reserve (Jilin province) at breeding seasons during 2007~2012. The results showed that the annual fluctuations of ring-necked pheasant population density was in range of 0.037~0.084 ind./hm2. Finally, snow thickness and low temperature might be the key factors that affected the population fluctuations of ring-necked pheasant.
