Molecular portrait of Periplaneta Americana extraction on colon cancer cells based on RNA-seq analysis

Abstract:Periplaneta Americana extraction can inhibit a variety of tumors the growth, and even induce tumor cell apoptosis. However, the influence of Periplaneta Americana extracts on signaling pathways changes in cancer cells, is still unkonwn. Therefore, in order to investigate the changes of signaling pathways in colon cancer cells treated with Periplaneta Americana and Cisplatin, the RNA-seq method was used. The results showed that, comparing to the untreated colon cancer cells (control) group, 30μM Cisplatin and 0.6% KFXY treatment group had 1901 the differentially expressed genes (DEGs), including 1555 up-regulated genes and 346 down-regulated genes; 30μM Cisplatin and 0.8% JFJJ treatment group had 2587 DEGs, including 2183 up-regulated genes and 404 down-regulated genes; 30μM Cisplatin and 100μg/ml JF treatment group had 1488 DEGs, including 1164 up-regulated genes and 324 down-regulated genes. GO analysis and KEGG pathway analysis showed the up-regulated DEGs were enriched in p53 signaling pathway, cell adhesion molecules and apoptosis, while the down-regulated DEGs were enriched in Aminoacyl-tRNA biosynthesis, One carbon pool and Biosynthesis of amino acids.
